The Honourable Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Goronyo, has called on professionals across the country to close ranks, deepen mentorship, and channel their collective expertise toward national development, describing professional collaboration as a cornerstone of sustainable progress.
Goronyo made the remarks while delivering a keynote address at the 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sokoto Professionals Network (SPN), held in Sokoto between December 26 and 27, 2025.
Speaking under the theme “Expanding Horizons, Strengthening Bonds,” the Minister said the meeting came at a critical moment, as nations grapple with increasingly complex economic and social challenges. He stressed that lasting development can only be achieved through strong professional networks anchored in trust, shared responsibility, and a common vision.
“In today’s interconnected world, no single sector or profession can drive progress alone,” Goronyo said.
“Sustainable development demands unity, collaboration, and the effective deployment of professional expertise.”
He underscored the role of professionals in shaping institutions, stimulating economic growth, and transforming ideas into practical solutions for societal challenges. According to him, platforms such as the Sokoto Professionals Network offer vital space for mentorship, innovation, policy engagement, and meaningful contributions to both community and national development.
Highlighting infrastructure as a catalyst for growth, the Minister noted that quality roads, bridges, and transport corridors remain essential to commerce, education, healthcare delivery, security, and national integration.
Goronyo reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to delivering durable and sustainable infrastructure nationwide, emphasizing professionalism, accountability, and local capacity development as guiding principles.
He also urged closer collaboration between senior and emerging professionals, home-based and diaspora members, and professional bodies and government institutions, noting that a united and solution-driven professional voice can significantly influence policy outcomes and national innovation.
In recognition of his contributions to public service, infrastructure development, and professional advancement, the Sokoto Professionals Network presented Rt. Hon. Goronyo with a Certificate of Membership during the AGM’s closing ceremony on December 27.
The Minister expressed gratitude for the honor and commended SPN’s leadership for sustaining what he described as a credible, inclusive, and impactful professional platform.
In a statement by Abdullahi Mohammed, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of State for Works, Goronyo said he remained confident that the Network’s contributions to the development of Sokoto State and Nigeria would continue to grow in relevance and impact.
