RHAGF Empowers Nigerian Women, Slum Sex Workers on International Women’s Day

In line with its commitment to empowering the less privileged in society, the Regy and Henry Amazing Grace Foundation (RHAGF) has empowered Nigerian women, including slum-based sex workers, with  cash gifts to commemorate the International Women’s Day celebration.

The empowerment programme, held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, formed part of activities marking the global celebration of women. The event was organised to support women living in underserved communities and help them become economically self-reliant.

This year’s International Women’s Day was celebrated worldwide under the theme “Give to Gain,” a message that emphasises collective responsibility in promoting women’s empowerment and social inclusion.

Speaking during the event, the National Coordinator of RHAGF, Dr. Duru Regina, expressed joy over the successful outreach, describing the celebration as remarkable and impactful.

According to her, the programme was designed to promote inclusiveness and social protection for women, particularly those living in slum communities.
“Our celebration of International Women’s Day today in the slum community was very remarkable and impactful. It is part of our effort to promote inclusiveness and social protection for women who are often neglected in society,” she said.

Dr. Regina further announced that the organisation would embark on another one-week skills acquisition programme scheduled to hold from March 20 to March 27, aimed at equipping Nigerian women with practical skills that would enable them to become financially independent.

She noted that since the inception of the foundation’s programmes, many women have benefited from various empowerment initiatives, improving their economic conditions and livelihoods.

The Regy and Henry Amazing Grace Foundation, known for its humanitarian activities, has continued to complement the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the international community in the fight against poverty.

In 2025 alone, the foundation reportedly empowered over 2,000 Nigerians through its skills acquisition programmes and financial support for small businesses.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to poverty eradication, particularly among women living in slum areas, including vulnerable groups such as slum-based sex workers.

RHAGF was joined by Lucky NMEC’s Representative on the International Women’s day celebration, while they visited the Hakimi of Galadimawa to brief him of the upcoming event.

Many Nigerians living in the area where this year’s international women’s day was celebrated by the organization applauded RHAGF, they, However, noted that this year’s International Women’s Day celebration by RHAGF has renewed hope among many women in underserved communities, as the empowerment initiative provided both economic support and encouragement for a better future.
