The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has inaugurated newly appointed members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), reinforcing its commitment to integrity, accountability, and ethical governance.
At the inauguration ceremony, Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Charles Anosike, described the development as a significant milestone in bolstering institutional safeguards against corruption within the agency. He noted that the initiative aligns with NiMet’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which is built on the core values of Integrity, Professionalism, Accountability, Commitment, and Excellence (I-PACE).
Anosike explained that ACTU plays a vital role in preventing corrupt practices and promoting a culture of transparency across the agency. He revealed that the unit has been expanded from five to eight members to improve inclusiveness and operational efficiency.
“The fight against corruption is a shared responsibility,” he said, urging staff members to adopt ethical conduct as a fundamental part of their professional duties.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, represented by Mr. Olusegun Adigun, commended NiMet’s leadership for supporting the establishment and operations of ACTU. He also called for deeper collaboration between both institutions to strengthen accountability and public trust.
The ceremony concluded with Anosike charging the newly inducted members to uphold the highest ethical standards and execute their duties with diligence and professionalism. He assured them of management’s full support while reiterating NiMet’s commitment to transparency and national development.
