It was a historic grassroots gathering in Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency of Kogi State, February 12, 2026
as women and youth groups threw their weight behind the aspiration of Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Adoke (AIA) for the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
The town hall meeting, driven by a coalition of stakeholders, women leaders and youth organizations, marked a significant moment in the political landscape of the constituency. The groups declared their endorsement of Dr. Adoke, citing her track record and vision for sustainable development as reasons for their support.
Speaking through their representatives, the groups expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as the traditional approach to constituency projects — symbolized by the distribution of “two cups of rice, beans and one yard of ankara.” They said Adavi/Okehi deserves purposeful leadership and effective national representation that prioritizes long-term economic empowerment over short-term handouts.
Dr. Adoke, a former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Kogi Investment and Properties Limited and Director of Public Service in the Federal Capital Territory, was praised as a leader with integrity and proven administrative capacity.
According to the women and youth leaders, Adavi/Okehi deserves better representation in the House of Representatives, and Dr. Adoke embodies the competence and compassion needed to deliver meaningful development.
An emotional Dr. Adoke, overwhelmed by the show of solidarity, pledged to transform the constituency if elected.
“Together, with your support and collective resolve, we can transform Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency into a model of opportunity and shared prosperity. Insha Allah, I will leverage my network to bring real development to our people,” she said.
In a strong departure from traditional campaign rhetoric, she declared:
“I will not share wrappers. I will not share rice. I will create wealth and build communities for self-sustainability.
I will industrialize Adavi/Okehi. I don’t talk too much, but I deliver results.”She said.
Dr. Adoke is contesting on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which supporters described as the party of choice for the people of Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency as the movement for change continues to gather momentum.
