By : Goodluck E. Adubazi, Abuja

The Ugandan presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, on Tuesday received former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan at his residence in Magere, in a high-profile meeting ahead of the country’s general elections.

Kyagulanyi, who is contesting under the National Unity Platform (NUP), met Jonathan as part of engagements with international election observers already in Uganda to monitor the electoral process. The visit underscores growing international attention on Uganda’s 2026 elections, widely seen as a pivotal moment for the country’s democratic future.

Goodluck Jonathan, a respected figure in African election observation and democratic advocacy since leaving office, joined other international observers in discussions focused on electoral transparency, peace, and the rule of law.

The meeting comes as campaigning intensifies nationwide, with opposition leaders calling for free, fair, and credible elections amid heightened political tension. Uganda heads to the polls later this year to elect its next president and members of parliament.
