The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has decorated his Military Assistant, former Major Shuaibu Mohammad, with his new rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
The decoration ceremony, held at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, was jointly performed by the Director General and the officer’s wife, Mrs. Hauwa Muhammad.
Speaking at the event, General Nafiu described the newly promoted officer as diligent and committed, noting that he had consistently lived up to expectations. He emphasized that while promotion is divinely ordained, it is also earned through hard work and comes with increased responsibility.
He urged Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad to prepare for greater challenges ahead and expressed optimism that his future promotions would come with even more honour and celebration.
In his remarks, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for approving his elevation. He described the promotion as a call to higher responsibility, loyalty, and dedication to the Nigerian Army and the nation.
He pledged renewed commitment to discipline, service, and professionalism, adding that the recognition would further motivate him in his duties.
The newly decorated officer also appreciated the NYSC Director General for his leadership, mentorship, and guidance, as well as the NYSC management and staff for their continued support.
