The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) secured a 5–3 victory over the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) in a spirited novelty football match organised to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

The friendly encounter, put together by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), brought staff of both organisations together in a show of unity, teamwork, and commitment to healthy living. Played in a lively and relaxed atmosphere, the match featured impressive displays of skill and sportsmanship from both sides, drawing cheers from enthusiastic spectators.

TCN emerged winners at the final whistle after a competitive game that highlighted not only athletic ability but also camaraderie among employees.

Organisers said the event was aimed at strengthening workplace relationships beyond the office environment while promoting staff well-being and collaboration across the power sector.

Top management officials from both organisations were in attendance, including TCN’s Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider, Engr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye; Executive Director, Finance & Accounts, Mr. Chuks Ochijie; and General Manager, Engineering, Engr. Mojeed Akintola.
Representing NISO were Executive Director, Finance & Corporate Services, Mr. Ibironke Babajide; General Manager, Human Resources, Mrs. Tijanni Halima; and General Manager, Legal Services, Barr. Bashiru Mohammed, alongside other staff members.

The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing a shared commitment by both organisations to teamwork, employee engagement, and a healthy work-life balance.
