The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has tasked stakeholders involved in the mobilisation of Nigerian graduates to ensure an error-free, transparent and credible process.
Nafiu made the call in Abuja while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2026 NYSC Batch ‘C’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop, themed: “Strengthening Institutional Accountability, Data Integrity and Digital Innovation for Seamless NYSC Mobilisation.”
The NYSC boss reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to deploying technology to reduce manual interventions, enhance transparency and efficiency, and ensure a seamless mobilisation process for eligible Nigerian graduates.
He said the workshop was taking place at a time when expectations for efficient, transparent and technology-driven public service delivery were exceptionally high.
According to him, the Scheme would continue to strengthen its systems to ensure that every eligible graduate is mobilised in a credible, transparent and timely manner.
Nafiu urged institutions and officers participating in the mobilisation process to take ownership of their responsibilities, adhere strictly to approved procedures and remain accountable for their decisions and actions.
He warned that inaccurate records, unauthorised alterations of data, delayed responses and failure to meet established timelines could adversely affect the mobilisation of graduates and undermine the credibility of the Scheme.
The Director-General also called on stakeholders to strengthen their digital competence and cybersecurity awareness, protect institutional databases and embrace responsible innovation.
He declared that the NYSC would maintain zero tolerance for negligence, manipulation of records, abuse of process and other practices capable of compromising the integrity of the organisation.
Nafiu further urged Corps-producing institutions and other stakeholders to strengthen their internal quality assurance mechanisms before transmitting data to the NYSC.
He stressed that data integrity remained fundamental to the credibility of the mobilisation process, noting that the accuracy, completeness and authenticity of data received from institutions were critical to successful mobilisation.
The NYSC DG said the collective objective should be to leverage technology to simplify processes, eliminate bottlenecks, reduce turnaround time and improve the experience of every prospective Corps Member.
He described mobilisation as a shared responsibility, stressing that no institution could achieve seamless mobilisation in isolation.
“The mobilisation process is a shared responsibility. No institution can achieve seamless mobilisation in isolation. We must therefore strengthen information sharing, maintain open communication and escalate anomalies promptly,” Nafiu said.
He added that the partnership among stakeholders must be founded on trust, professionalism and shared responsibility, as weaknesses in one part of the system could affect the entire mobilisation value chain.
Also speaking, the Director, Corps Mobilisation Department, Mrs Rachel Idaewor, urged stakeholders to strictly comply with the approved mobilisation timeline as preparations for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course gather momentum.
Idaewor called for improved verification of graduates’ data before submission, stronger institutional controls to minimise errors and measures to prevent fraudulent practices.
She also advocated greater deployment of technology to automate routine processes, while ensuring appropriate oversight and compliance with applicable national regulations and global best practice.
