Eligible members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who turned out in large numbers as early as 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, to participate in the Central primary election were left stranded as the exercise failed to hold across several wards.
Reports gathered from Adavi-Eba Ward, Egge Wards, Idanuhu Wards, Kuroko, Nagazi Farm Centre, Eika-Ohizenyi, Obangede, Uhuodo, Oboroke Eba, Oboroke I, and other polling areas indicated that party members waited for hours without the arrival of electoral materials or officials.
A prominent ADC chieftain, Hajia Maryam Salihu, who earlier toured several wards, appealed to party faithful to remain patient, explaining that electoral officials were still putting necessary arrangements in place before departing Lokoja.
However, tension reportedly escalated at about 2:30 p.m. when information emerged that election materials had been released to electoral officers. Sources alleged that agents of various aspirants were pressured into signing for the materials before the officials departed Lokoja for the Central District.
Further allegations claimed that the electoral officials later diverted the materials to undisclosed locations in an alleged attempt to manipulate and manufacture election results in favor of certain aspirants.
ADC party faithful members pointed accusing fingers at Senator Ogembe and his alleged political allies, accusing them of masterminding the hijack of the electoral process to influence the outcome of the primaries.
As of the time of filing this report, party officials had yet to issue an official statement regarding the failed exercise and the allegations surrounding the conduct of the primary election.
ADC Party Faithfuls called the National leadership of the African Democratic Congress ADC, Senator David Mark, and all lovers of democracy for immediate intervention.
