….Calls for Unity, Gender Inclusion, Regional Balance Ahead of ADC Primaries

A leading aspirant for the Okehi/Adavi Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Adams Mustapha Ojenya, has officially withdrawn from the 2027 race and declared support for fellow aspirant,. Aisha Ibrahim Adoke, ahead of the party primaries scheduled for May 21, 2026.

According to Hon. Mustapha
“The decision was taken after careful consultations and extensive engagements with relevant party stakeholders, respected leaders, and his genuine supporters across the constituency
Ojenya announced his decision in a press statement issued on Tuesday, 19 May , 2026, describing the move as a “historic sacrifice for unity, gender inclusion, and the future of Okehi/Adavi.”
The politician, who had already purchased his nomination forms for the contest, said his withdrawal followed extensive consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across the constituency.
According to him, the decision was driven by the need to promote unity within the party, strengthen inclusive governance, and advance the collective interest of the constituency above personal ambition.
“My support for Aisha Ibrahim Adoke (PhD) is borne out of my conviction in her competence, intelligence, leadership capacity, and ability to provide quality representation for our people,” Ojenya stated.
He further described Adoke’s aspiration as a significant opportunity for female representation in Okehi/Adavi Federal Constituency, noting that it aligns with ongoing advocacy for greater participation of women in politics and governance.
Ojenya urged party members, youths, women, and stakeholders across the 22 wards of the constituency to support Adoke during the primaries and beyond, expressing confidence in her ability to secure victory for the ADC in the 2027 general elections.
The former aspirant also appealed to the ADC leadership to ensure the conduct of free, fair, transparent, and credible primaries across the country.
“At this important stage of our democratic process, I call on the party leadership to ensure transparent and credible primaries and urge all aspirants to accept the outcome in good faith,” he said.
He stressed the importance of unity, sportsmanship, and mutual respect among party faithful, adding that only a united political structure could deliver victory at both state and national levels.
Ojenya, an Information Technology expert, seasoned banker, and pioneer member of the Kogi State Youth Parliament, has been widely regarded as one of the prominent figures in the Okehi/Adavi House of Representatives race.
Supporters of the politician had earlier championed his candidacy on the grounds of fairness and regional balance, arguing that Adavi West deserved the opportunity to produce the next representative after Adavi East reportedly held the position for two consecutive terms, he urged the ADC stakeholders to resist any forms of oppression, while advocating for 35 percent Women affirmative actions, he emphasized the vital role women play in a multi-party democracy, according to Hon. Mustapha “every lover of democracy must ensure gender inclusivity”, He stressed.
Ojenya groups had earlier highlighted his professional background in banking, Information Technology management, forensic investigation, and legislative experience as key qualities that positioned him for effective representation.
In his closing remarks, Ojenya thanked Almighty Allah, party leaders, political associates, and supporters for their encouragement and loyalty throughout his political journey.
He called on his supporters to transfer the same commitment and solidarity they gave him to Aisha Ibrahim Adoke -AIA as the party prepares for the crucial primaries.
