The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in commemoration of this year’s Easter celebration.

The announcement was made by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

He extended warm congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.

In his message, the Minister called on Nigerians to embrace the core virtues symbolized by Easter, including selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. He further urged citizens to uphold national values such as tolerance and unity, emphasizing their importance in strengthening the country’s social fabric.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national development, Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated that ongoing policy decisions are aimed at fostering economic growth, national renewal, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister also wished Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
