The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Barr. Oluwaseun Faleye, has called for stronger collaboration among government, employers and workers to promote sustainable economic growth, enterprise competitiveness and improved worker protection.

Faleye made the call on Monday in Abuja while delivering a goodwill message at the 5th Annual Summit of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), where he described the summit’s theme, “Leveraging Reforms and ESG for Enterprise Competitiveness and Inclusive National Growth,” as timely amid Nigeria’s evolving economic landscape.
He noted that businesses across the country are adjusting to ongoing policy reforms and seeking innovative ways to remain competitive while creating value for society.

Quoting a popular Nigerian proverb, “The left hand washes the right, and the right hand washes the left,” Faleye stressed that lasting national progress can only be achieved through partnership and shared responsibility.
According to him, government, employers and workers all have critical roles to play in building a resilient economy, adding that collaboration founded on trust and common purpose benefits every stakeholder.
The NSITF boss said worker protection and enterprise competitiveness should be viewed as complementary objectives, arguing that a safe, protected and confident workforce is more productive, while organisations that prioritise employee welfare are better positioned for long-term sustainability.
Faleye also highlighted the Employees’ Compensation Scheme as a vital pillar of Nigeria’s social protection framework, noting that it provides support for workers while giving employers confidence to operate within a fair and predictable system.
He emphasised that as Nigeria implements economic reforms, deliberate efforts must be made to ensure that growth remains inclusive and that no segment of the workforce is left behind.
Commending NECA for sustaining the annual summit as a platform for dialogue,
Faleye expressed optimism that the two-day gathering would produce practical recommendations capable of strengthening enterprise competitiveness and advancing Nigeria’s economic development.
The NECA Annual Summit brings together private sector leaders, policymakers and labour stakeholders to deliberate on key issues shaping Nigeria’s business environment and economic future.
