The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has successfully concluded its State Congress in Lokoja, the state capital, ushering in a new State Executive Committee through a peaceful and widely applauded consensus process.

At the end of the congress held on Saturday, Hon. Dr. Tom Zakari emerged as the new State Chairman, marking what party stakeholders describe as the beginning of a renewed drive toward strengthening the ADC’s political influence ahead of future elections.

In a swift reaction, Adavi/Okehi House of Representatives hopeful, Hon. Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Adoke (AIA), congratulated Hon. Dr. Tom Zakari, as the State Chairman of ADC, and Hajiya Billikisu Muhammed Onusagba, State Women leaders, State Executive Secretary, S.O Adeleye on their emergence and extended her goodwill to all newly affirmed state executives.

Hon.Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Adoke -AIA expressed confidence in the leadership’s capacity to reposition the party for victory in 2027, urging unity, cooperation, and sustained commitment among members.

Dr. Adoke, who was present in Lokoja for the congress, commended the National Steering Committee for conducting what she described as a transparent, peaceful, and credible process. She noted that the smooth affirmation of the new executives reflects the party’s growing internal stability and democratic maturity.

She further expressed optimism about the ADC’s future, stating that Nigeria stands to benefit from the party’s leadership, which she believes is anchored on transformation, inclusivity, and national progress.

Stakeholders praised the successful conduct of the congress, which signals a new chapter for the ADC in Kogi State, positioning it as a formidable opposition force with ambitions to compete strongly at all levels of governance.

The congress concluded with a renewed call for unity among party members, as leaders emphasized the need to consolidate gains and build momentum toward upcoming electoral contests.
