One of the Nigeria’s Foremost private institutions Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has expelled no fewer than 15 female students for their involvement in sex video–related offences, the university management has confirmed.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, disclosed this on Friday during the institution’s matriculation ceremony, where 936 newly admitted students took the matriculation oath.

Addressing the fresh students, Ayorinde warned against acts capable of jeopardising their academic careers, stressing that the university operates a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline.

According to him, the affected students were dismissed for engaging in and circulating explicit videos on social media, an act he described as damaging to the image of the institution.

“You put your phone before you, dance naked, and tag Achievers University there — I will dismiss you. Use social media for positive things,” he said.

The Pro-Chancellor further revealed that a student who was close to graduation was also expelled for making statements perceived as a security threat to the institution.

“One of them, who would have graduated, was caught threatening that if Boko Haram came to Achievers University, he would deal with them, inviting Boko Haram. We refunded his N2.3 million and dismissed him,” Ayorinde stated.

He urged parents and students to ensure that school fees and resources are used judiciously, warning against involvement in drug abuse, cyber misconduct, and other activities capable of attracting severe disciplinary measures.

“Use the money you’re paying here well, not for sex videos or drugs. We have dismissed more than 15 female students over sex video offences,” he added.

The university reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding moral and academic standards within the institution.
