African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has secured two prestigious awards at the 2026 International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill Awards, earning global recognition for excellence in strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
The pan-African financial institution received the coveted Award of Excellence in the Special and Experiential Events category for the successful delivery of communication and engagement activities surrounding the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 (IATF2025) held in Algiers, Algeria.
The Bank also won an Award of Merit in the Social Media category for its innovative digital communication campaigns.
The dual honours reaffirm Afreximbank’s commitment to leveraging strategic communications to advance trade, investment and industrialisation across Africa and the Caribbean.
IATF2025, regarded as Africa’s premier trade and investment platform, attracted more than 120,000 participants both physically and virtually and facilitated business deals worth over $50 billion.
The event brought together governments, investors, businesses, entrepreneurs, buyers and sellers from across the continent and beyond, supporting the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
According to the Bank, the award-winning communications campaign significantly enhanced global awareness of the fair, increased stakeholder participation, strengthened media visibility and promoted a positive narrative about Africa’s growing capacity for trade and industrial development.
The Award of Merit recognised Afreximbank’s strategic deployment of digital and social media platforms to amplify discussions on trade, economic integration, industrialisation and investment opportunities.
Through thought leadership content, multimedia storytelling, executive advocacy and real-time event coverage, the Bank expanded its reach among policymakers, investors, development partners and the wider public.
A key component of the digital strategy was Afreximbank TV, the Bank’s wholly owned digital television platform, which provided extensive coverage of IATF2025 to audiences across Africa and around the world.
Speaking on the achievement, Anne Ezeh, Director and Global Head of Communications and Events at Afreximbank, described the awards as a testament to the creativity, professionalism and impact of the Bank’s communications team.
“We are delighted to receive these two awards, which attest to the expertise, creativity and efficiency of Afreximbank’s communications. As a pan-African multilateral financial institution, we see storytelling as a powerful tool for advancing our mission and amplifying Africa’s transformation,” she said.
Ezeh added that the Bank would continue to deploy innovative storytelling, integrated campaigns and digital engagement strategies to showcase Africa’s opportunities, resilience and growing influence in the global economy.
For more than 50 years, the IABC Gold Quill Awards have been regarded as one of the highest honours in the communications profession, recognising programmes that demonstrate outstanding creativity, innovation, measurable impact and excellence in execution.
The latest recognition further strengthens Afreximbank’s position as a leading African institution promoting the continent’s economic development while projecting a positive and influential global narrative about Africa.
