.. Six-Month Oxford-Delivered Executive Course Targets High-Potential African Public Servants

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has announced the opening of applications for the sixth cohort of its flagship AIG Public Leaders Programme (AIG PLP), a transformative executive education initiative aimed at strengthening public sector leadership across Africa.
Delivered in partnership with the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, the six-month programme equips high-potential public servants with the strategic insight, networks, and practical tools required to drive meaningful reform within African public institutions.
Applications are open to qualified public servants from all English-speaking African countries and will close on Sunday, April 12, 2026. While the new cohort is scheduled to commence in October 2026.
Since its launch in 2021, the AIG PLP has built a strong reputation for delivering measurable results across the continent. Alumni have collectively designed and implemented more than 230 reform projects within ministries, departments, and agencies spanning sectors such as healthcare, finance, agriculture, and education.
According to an impact survey conducted by the Foundation, 62 percent of alumni have secured promotions or taken on expanded leadership responsibilities following their participation in the programme—an outcome that underscores its influence on both career progression and institutional transformation.
“Across Africa, the complexity of public sector challenges demands more than good intentions. It requires reformers who understand systems, can navigate institutional realities, and are equipped to implement sustainable change. The AIG PLP is designed to meet this need,” said Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice-Chair of the Foundation.
She pointed to the work of alumna Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, who developed a secure self-reporting tool enabling survivors of domestic and sexual abuse to safely document incidents and preserve evidence. The initiative has already expanded access to support services while safeguarding crucial documentation for future legal action.
Foundation officials describe the project as one of over 230 reforms currently being implemented by alumni across the continent.
A World-Class Training at No Cost
The AIG PLP combines online learning with an intensive residential module and is offered at no cost to selected participants. The Foundation covers tuition, accommodation, and feeding during residential sessions.
Participants receive direct access to Oxford faculty and engage with core public sector challenges, including negotiating in the public interest, harnessing digital technology for governance, strengthening public organisations, and upholding integrity in public life.
The programme culminates in a capstone reform project, requiring participants to apply their training to real-world institutional challenges—ensuring that classroom learning translates into actionable public sector solutions.
