The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting to mark the 100-day countdown to the 2027 General Election.
The conference, scheduled for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja, will provide the Commission with an opportunity to update Nigerians and other stakeholders on its preparations for the elections.
Among the key issues expected to feature are the voters’ register, candidate nominations, election logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity and credibility of the electoral process.
The event will be addressed by INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, alongside other key stakeholders in the electoral process.
According to the Commission, the national stakeholders’ meeting underscores its commitment to transparency, proactive public communication and collaboration with critical actors ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting is expected to bring together political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.
The event is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m., with guests expected to be seated by the same time.
INEC said the event will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms.
Accredited media representatives and invited guests are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
In a Statement by Adedayo Oketola Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman on Sunday, October 4, 2026 noted that the 100-day countdown comes as INEC intensifies preparations for the 2027 General Election and engages stakeholders on measures aimed at ensuring a transparent, credible and inclusive electoral process.
