The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the postponement of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course for Prospective Corps Members deployed to Niger State, citing ongoing renovation works at the state orientation camp in Paiko.

According to the scheme’s management, the postponement became necessary following extensive damage to the NYSC Orientation Camp caused by a recent windstorm.

The Niger State Government is currently undertaking renovation and rehabilitation works to restore the facility.

NYSC disclosed that efforts are already underway to secure an alternative venue for the orientation exercise to ensure the smooth commencement of activities for affected corps members.

The management assured Prospective Corps Members that a new date for the Orientation Course, along with other necessary information, would be communicated as soon as arrangements are finalized.

The development affects all Prospective Corps Members posted to Niger State for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Service Year, who had been preparing to report to camp as scheduled.

In a statement issued by Caroline Embu, Director of Information and Public Relations, NYSC Management expressed regret over the disruption caused by the postponement.

The scheme appealed for understanding and cooperation from affected corps members and their families, assuring them that every effort is being made to provide a suitable alternative venue and resume the orientation programme at the earliest possible date.

More details are expected as NYSC finalizes arrangements for the rescheduled orientation exercise.
