The All Progressives Congress (APC) has swept all 21 local government chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship positions in the Kogi State local government elections conducted by the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC).
The results were announced by the commission following the conclusion of the collation exercise at its headquarters in Lokoja, the state capital.
Declaring the results, KOSIEC Chairman, Mamman Nda-Eri, said the APC emerged victorious in all chairmanship and councillorship contests across the state’s 21 local government areas and 239 electoral wards.
Nda-Eri described the election as peaceful and credible, noting that the exercise was conducted in accordance with the commission’s electoral guidelines.
He commended security agencies, election observers, journalists and voters for their cooperation and orderly conduct throughout the exercise.
According to him, the conclusion of the election marked the completion of the 13 activities outlined by the commission for the 2026 local government elections, a process that began almost a year ago.
The KOSIEC chairman added that Certificates of Return would be issued to the successful candidates in due course.
The outcome gives the APC control of all chairmanship and councillorship positions across Kogi State’s 21 local government areas.
