The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) have formalised a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening professional training and service delivery in Nigeria’s aviation and meteorological sectors.

The agreement was sealed on Monday at NiMet’s headquarters in Abuja, with the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Charles Anosike, and the Rector of NCAT, Danjuma Ismaila, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective institutions.
The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration in professional training, capacity development, and technical support.

Both institutions will jointly utilise training facilities, provide advisory support for aviation training programmes, and deliver specialised long- and short-term courses tailored for NiMet personnel.

The partnership also provides for staff exchange programmes and joint training initiatives, including the use of NiMet’s Training School in Oshodi, Lagos, for International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-compliant aviation training.
Key focus areas under the agreement include aviation operations and management, safety management systems, crisis management, aviation security, air navigation systems, airport operations, and jointly organised diploma programmes in Aviation Meteorology.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Anosike reaffirmed NiMet’s commitment to sustained human capital development. He emphasised that continued investment in training, technical collaboration, and institutional partnerships is essential to advancing operational excellence and ensuring safe and efficient air navigation across Nigeria.

The partnership is expected to enhance industry standards and reinforce Nigeria’s capacity to meet evolving demands in the aviation and meteorological domains.
