…. Jafar Question ! Tell me why NYSC is still posting people to states far from their home states.

If you want to understand how the federal government thinks, first understand how agencies, commissions, and ministries conduct their activities without consideration for current realities.

The worst part is that the so-called unions and associations remain silent over national issues. The last time school children were abducted, the NUT National made no significant headlines.

Neither did the university bodies, the Nigerian Medical Association, the NBA, or many other groups and associations. Everyone is more concerned only with what affects their own trade. That is the country we live in nobody cares or feels responsible for the collective good. There is no national conscience.

Down to the grassroots, the traditional institutions have no firm resolve on the way forward; they are just a bunch of hungry folks scavenging without dignity or foresight.

The people themselves are not even paying attention to the interconnectedness of our individualities.
Imagine the distance from Borno to the Southwest. Did you imagine in 2009 that the insecurity in the far Northeast would eventually reach you in the far Southwest?

When your neighbor complains of rats in their house and you feel your own house is sealed well enough, remember: the rats might not enter your house directly, but there are many unimaginable ways their presence can still affect you.

I have no God to commit to Nigeria. Manner isn’t falling from any heaven.

-Suleiman Jafaru (Ubuntu of Patesi) writes from Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
