The Regy and Henry Amazing Grace Foundation (RHAGF) has trained and empowered more residents of Gbuduwyi Community in Kabusa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as part of its three-week intensive skills acquisition and empowerment programme aimed at tackling poverty and improving livelihoods.

The programme, which was flagged off on August 11, 2026, focused on “Literacy Through Vocational and Psychosocial Support Intervention”, providing participants with vocational skills and psychosocial support designed to improve their economic independence and social well-being.

The initiative is part of RHAGF’s sustained intervention in disadvantaged and slum communities across the FCT, where the organisation has, over the years, provided skills development and empowerment opportunities to vulnerable residents.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-week training held on August 28, 2026, at Gbuduwyi Community, the Secretary-General of NATCOM-UNESCO, Dr. Lateef Idowu Olagunju, urged beneficiaries, particularly young women, to make effective use of the skills acquired during the programme.

Olagunju said vocational skills could provide beneficiaries with a pathway to economic independence and a more productive future.
He advised the beneficiaries not to undermine their parents but to ensure that their families understood the value of the skills they had acquired.
“We are not saying you should fight your parents, but let your parents know that the skills you have learned are important for you to go to greater heights in life,” he said.

According to him, acquiring practical skills would also help young women become self-reliant and make informed decisions about their future.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to put the knowledge gained during the training into practice rather than allowing the opportunity to go to waste.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of RHAGF, Dr. Regina Duru, highlighted the foundation’s contributions to poverty reduction and community development over the years.

Duru said the organisation had consistently worked to improve the lives of people living in underserved communities through vocational training, empowerment initiatives and other interventions.
She noted that the latest programme was designed to equip participants with practical skills capable of creating opportunities for self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.
The training attracted more participants from Gbuduwyi Community, who received intensive instruction in various vocational skills.
The foundation said the programme was part of its broader commitment to poverty eradication, economic empowerment and social inclusion among vulnerable populations in the FCT.
RHAGF urged the beneficiaries to build on the training by turning their newly acquired skills into viable economic ventures and becoming agents of positive change within their communities.
The Regy & Henry Amazing Grace Foundation implemented a three-week intensive empowerment programme titled “Literacy Through Vocational and Psychosocial Support” in Gbuduwyi Community, Kabusa, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The initiative was designed to equip community members, particularly young people and other vulnerable residents, with practical vocational and digital skills that can enhance their livelihoods, promote self-reliance and contribute to poverty reduction.

The community remained orderly and actively participated in the activities throughout the programme.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of NATCOM-UNESCO Nigeria, Dr. Lateef Idowu Olagunju, who commended the initiative and encouraged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunities provided through the training.
