The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced the restoration of the national grid following multiple trippings on the 330kV transmission network on Monday, October 19, 2026.
NISO disclosed that the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m., prompting immediate intervention by the operator in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to stabilise the power system and restore normal operations.
In a statement, the operator confirmed that restoration efforts had been successfully completed and that the national grid had returned to normal operation.
NISO clarified that the incident affected only a section of the national grid, dismissing reports circulating in the media suggesting a wider disruption.
