In a demonstration of its commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible development, staff of African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) commemorated World Environment Day 2026 by participating in a tree-planting exercise at the site of the new Afreximbank African Trade Centre (AATC) in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.

The initiative underscores the Bank’s dedication to promoting sustainable growth while helping to create greener, healthier, and more resilient communities.

The tree-planting exercise forms part of broader efforts to integrate environmental stewardship into the Bank’s development agenda.

The AATC, which is set to become Afreximbank’s future global headquarters, is expected to serve as a strategic hub for trade, investment, and commercial cooperation.

The landmark facility will strengthen connections between Africa and global markets, fostering new opportunities for economic growth and partnership.

Bank officials noted that while Afreximbank continues to invest in infrastructure that supports Africa’s economic transformation, it remains equally focused on protecting the environment and advancing sustainability goals for future generations.

The World Environment Day activity reflects the institution’s belief that economic progress and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand, ensuring long-term prosperity across the continent and beyond.
